Explore the clear waters around Koh Lipe.
We’re Johann and Boi, the Thai-French couple behind Wapi Resort. Koh Lipe has been part of our lives for over 20 years, and we love sharing the island with the people who come to stay with us.
Set on Sunrise Beach, our family-run resort offers beachfront, sea-view and garden bungalows beneath the shade of mature trees. Breakfast is included with every stay, and Walking Street’s shops and restaurants are just a short walk away.
Over the years, we’ve built close ties with Koh Lipe’s local Chao Ley community. Whenever possible, we work with local people both at the resort and through our travel agency, which we opened in 2004. Our private and shared boat trips are organised with local boatmen we know and trust, whose knowledge of the surrounding islands and sea is invaluable.
Whether you’re planning a snorkelling trip, arranging your onward journey or looking for a favourite local place to eat, our family and team are happy to help.

Rates vary depending on your travel dates. Check availability for the exact price of your stay. Extra beds are charged separately.

Feel at home on Koh Lipe with our family and team.
Our kitchen serves different Thai dishes as well as salads and sandwiches, sweet cakes.
Our drinks include fresh fruit juices and shakes, fresh coffee, soft drinks, cold beers.
We start off the day with a nice European Breakfast.

Massage services are available at the resort.

Ask us about private and shared snorkelling trips. For scuba diving, we recommend Forra Dive.

Spend a day exploring the islands with the local Chao Ley boatmen, who know these waters like home. Over the years, we’ve come to know the people we trust to take our guests out to sea. Choose a private boat for your family or friends, or join a group for a day of snorkelling and beach stops. Come and chat with us at reception — we’ll help you find the trip you’ll enjoy most.
Find us on Sunrise Beach, close to Walking Street and the island’s shops and restaurants.
The most popular; many of the main resorts and restaurants can be found in the area.
Near the Chao Lay village, it has fewer facilities but a beach many prefer for quiet and relaxation. This is where Wapi Resort is.
The most quiet, with spectacular late-afternoon views.
Koh Lipe is developing quickly and offers more services every year. It's still laid back and has its own style, but you can also get almost anything you need- or anything you forgot. For retail, there are numerous shops selling beach equipment, swimwear, t-shirts, hats and souvenirs. Corner grocery stores abound, selling snack foods and staples for locals and tourists alike.

What our guests say after their stay at Wapi Resort.
Great experience in this clean and comfortable bungalow. Varied breakfast. Beautiful sea view. Hammock and sun loungers available. Kayaks can be rented cheaply. Snorkel masks and life jackets are provided.
Great place, great bungalow (beachfront), great staff, great breakfast. I loved this place...
The best hotel of our holiday! A flawless welcome, the staff are incredibly caring and always available. Breakfast is varied every day and there is a wide choice. We had a room with a sea view, magnificent. You can rent a kayak from the hotel to go to the island opposite. A big thank you!
The hotel is simply perfect! I highly recommend it for the kindness of the staff, the comfort, the fabulous breakfast, the location and the magnificent white-sand beach! Nothing to complain about! My only regret is not having stayed longer!
If you are looking for a fairly simple resort with excellent value for money on this island's beach, I highly recommend this place. The owner is extremely kind and welcoming and will do everything to accommodate you. The breakfast is very good and the hotel has a small massage area. I recommend the bungalows along the central path, which are quite spacious and very well located.

Everything you need to know before you arrive.
If you’re coming from Hat Yai, the usual route is by road to Pak Bara Pier, then by speedboat to Koh Lipe. Allow around 2–2½ hours for the drive from Hat Yai Airport and about 1½ hours for the boat, plus time to check in at the pier.
From Langkawi, the crossing from Telaga Harbour takes about 1½ hours, with immigration formalities as you’re travelling from Malaysia to Thailand.
Other island connections operate seasonally. Tell us where you’re travelling from and when, and we’ll help you work out the journey.
During high season, boats arrive at Pattaya Beach.
In low season, they may sometimes arrive at Sunrise Beach near the local school, depending on the weather forecast and sea conditions.
Once you’ve collected your bags, walk about 80 metres inland from the landing point, where you’ll usually find the local taxis.
These are motorbike tricycles with a covered passenger seat. Just ask for Wapi Resort on Sunrise Beach. The fare is THB 50 per person, including luggage. We don’t offer a pick-up service on arrival.
During high season, you can eat at Wapi Restaurant from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.
In low season, we still serve breakfast from 7:30 am to 10:00 am, but the restaurant closes for the rest of the day.
We don’t serve dinner, and we’re happy to suggest places nearby for your evening meal.
Our Family Seaview Bungalow has two queen-size beds and sleeps up to five people with an extra bed.
The Deluxe Bungalows have one king-size bed and can sleep up to three with an extra bed.
Extra beds cost THB 1,000 per night. If you’re unsure which bungalow would suit your family, we’re happy to help you choose.
